We got an e-mail from some german climbers to tell us that their quickdraws had been stolen out of the route Herrman Buhl. They left them in the route to work on it but due to bad weather conditions it took them some time to come back to Berdorf to find that their quickdraws had gone. AGAIN climbing.lu wants to warn you that unfortunately there are such climbers who steal material out of routes and that this is something which happens VERY OFTEN in Berdorf. That’s why we named one route Mort aux cons (death to idiots!). Furthermore, when you find things near the rocks that someone forgot PLEASE leave those things at its place. If someone is missing something he will surely return to the same place to look for it!
Furthermore, this sunday, 5th May 2013, some climbers from Luxembourg got broken into their cars. Strangers broke the windows of the cars and stole money and other things. The climbing area was so crowded last weekend that you had to wait a long time to climb a route. Those conditions are just not acceptable:: area overcrowded, climbing material gets stolen out of routes, cars are broken in, a lot of trash is left in the nature, shit and toiletpaper under routes (cf. sector Infernale, we even found once diapers!), ropes are hanging far too long in unclimbed routes (Berdorf is NOT a gym!), etc. … That must STOP or they will tighten the conditions of the climbing permission!
GEYIKBAYIRI itself has 35 different sectors with more than 618 routes of all grades with even some multi-pitch routes. Plus, around Geyikbayiri you have 6 other climbing areas, Geyikbayiri being the main. Geyikbayiri is a small village with a lot of history from Alexander the Great to the end of the Ottomann Empire in 1922. St. Nicholas (also known as father Christmas, Santa Claus, Père Noël, etc) was born in 245 AD in Patara near Fethyie and died in 326 AD having spent his life in Anatolia. As the bishop of Demre, he helped a lot the locals of that region by his religious and social work. After he died he was burried in Demre and a church was built there to honor him. The first Santa Claus symposium ever held in Antalya was from the 5th to the 7th of December 1983. It takes a one-hour drive to Antalya. Antalya is … (read more)

The austrian climber Klem Loskot is back to the vertical world! Klemens Loskot is a legend! In the 90s he put the standards of bouldering very high. All around the world he opened some of the most difficult boulderproblems and even in ropeclimbing he opened routes graded 9a which no other climber ever managed to repeat. Udo Neumann described him as being the future of bouldering because of his very dynamic style.
Recently he repeated “Zunami”, a boulder graded 8C opened by the Schwaiger brothers in Saalachtal, and managed to climb the 1st ascent of a very old project of his named “Balkon Projekt” graded 9a. A few years ago, climbing.lu had the oporunity to make an interview with him which you can find here in english or in german …
Three of our friends (Brian Burg, Christian Bintener & Olivier Groff) participated at the London-Tashkent challenge in August 2012. It is about a road trip that started in London (for some others in Germany / Nürburg-Ring) to end in Tashkent / Uzbekistan. This road trip was made for a good purpose. The cars of those who managed to arrive in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (the final destination actually) were sold and the money was donated to an orphanage, so they had to take a plane back home. With an old car, they made 8.582 km from Luxembourg to Kyrgyzstan! Have a look at this very interesting and funny video Olivier made about their road trip. They met a lot of nice people, had a lot of fun, made new friends but also nearly got arrested and had to go to prison in Russia and were not welcome in Kazakhstan Pierre & Jean-Marc are already planning to participate in the next year’s challenge, a challenge we can only recommend you
This is so amazing, just have a look! SPORT DOESN’T CARE WHO YOU ARE. EVERYONE CAN TAKE PART!
