Our MEDIA presence (2001 – 2011)
“They’re just a sympatic bunch of friends who love dynos and Wu-Tang Clan.” – Dr Topo (from Canada) about the Costa brothers and climbing.lu.
“Uns geht es prioritär darum, unser Niveau zu steigern, zu reisen, Leute kennen zu lernen. Der Wettbewerbsgeist ist uns eher fremd.” – Yves Schartz in an interview with the Luxemburger Wort in 2004
“Citius, altius, fortius. So heißt die olympische Devise. Jean-Marc Winckel und Yves Schartz, zwei der besten Luxemburger Nachwuchskletterer, können sich kaum hiermit identifizieren. Für die zwei Felskletterer gilt eher die Devise: schwierig, schwieriger, am schwierigsten.” – Cutout of an article about Yves and Jean-Marc in the Luxemburger Wort in 2004
During all those years climbing.lu has also had a little media presence: Yves and Jean-Marc in the “Luxemburger Wort” (luxemburgish newspaper) in 2004 when they got a reward by the luxemburgish climbing federation (FLERA) and 2005, Yves and Jean-Marc were interviewed by Tango TV who also filmed a documentary about them in 2004, Jean-Marc in the “VERTICAL” (french climbing magazine) in the edition of Sept./Oct. 2004 as 3rd of the Petzl Roc Trip Amateur Contest 2004 in Cantobre (France), climbing.lu in cooperation with EscaladeMag (french climbing magazine of the Vosges du Nord climbers) between 2006 and 2009, Jean-Marc & Yves and Jean-Marc together with Daniel Jung in the climbing.de, kairn.com and escalade-alsace news, our Bleau videos on the canadian Dr TOPO homepage (which unfortunately does not exist anymore) and our pictures on climbing.com (USA), climbing.lu in cooperation with BEAL and PETZL in 2007 in a contest to win climbing DVDs, Olivier won the “GRIMPER” (french climbing magazine) “best climbing picture” contest in April 2007, article about the Costa brothers and climbing in Berdorf in the “GRIMPER” edition of April 2008 by the french photographer Sam Bié, Pierre on the cover of the polish GóRY climbing magazine (edition Sept. 2008), Jean-Marc in a german climbing book “Die 4. Dimension, Kletter- und Boulderlehrbuch” by Gerald Krug published in 2009, and much more.

Hi, I have a question. A few days ago Rachel Nilwik climbed Hermann Buhl and she is the first Dutch oman to do so. Do you know which woman climbed Hermann Buhl?
I work for the Dutch climbing magazine BLOK and I will write about this ascent in our next issue. We wrote about Berdorf before (October 2009). It might be interesting for your media-section.
Thank you,
Bart van Raaij
Hi Bart,
We are not sure about female ascents of Hermann Buhl. I know that Muriel Sarkany worked the route a long time but never managed to climb it. And I can remember that a few years ago (3 to 5 years ago) a belgian woman climbed the route. But I can’t remember who she was and I am not sure about all this.
Yeah, the article could be interesting for us, please keep us informed about it.
Thanks for the information.
PS: I am impatiently waiting for your new Bleau Topo
(and the iPhone app) … good work!
that s Aline Lambert
Yeah you’re right! Thanks!
J’étais là le jour là, et j’en ai profité pour faire une news sur le cad :
